Wow, hard to believe tomorrow is Christmas day! Every year I claim it seems to rush up on me, though I was pretty organized as far as getting a main gift for everyone this year. But as usual there seem to be a zillion last minute things, compounded by the fact that I slipped on the ice last week when walking my new rescue collie, Bran - and did some nasty damage to my knee. Nothing broken per the X-rays, but I could not put any weight on it for three days, and even now I still need crutches to gimp along.
So art has taken a back burner. The last few years I've designed my own Christmas cards using my own paintings, fun. This year I wanted a "birdie" theme and kept meaning to do a painting of a cardinal on a snowy background, but never got to it, and finally had to resort to jazzing up a painting I'd already done of a Carolina Wren who visited my feeders last winter. I'm glad I did in the end. After all, everyone see cardinal cards - but how many wren cards are there? I used Photoshop to make it more Christmasy with the added border and snowflakes. The flakes actually were "cut" from the top portion of the feeder in the original picture, so they are actually my artwork too, LOL. Just pasted in various spots.
I hope everyone has a lovely holiday, and a wonderful 2008.
